As another weeks comes to a close, I write.
These past seven days held for me a myriad of surprises, that can be likened to that of a lucky dip; from testing the limits of my research skills, to testing the limits of my VIP clubbing card. This week was something to behold.
Despite this week marking the middle of my trimester and the beginning of my major assignments, it couldn't have gone any smoother. By Wednesday I had completed the writing of what I originally considered an 'unconquerable task', with surprising ease. Leading the first half of the week to phase triumphantly from academically focussed, to living life to the fullest. With work prematurely coming to an end, I was left with an unusually large amount of time, free of stress. Making the most of the opportunity I began to relax first thing Thursday morning, with a hearty sleep-in; making up for the immeasurable damage I've already done to my sleeping cycle. The rest of the day ensued with my friends Mitchell and Lochlain, with which you can never have a bad time. This charismatic duo never cease to put a smile on my face, with hilarity following them wherever they stumbled. Anyway I digress, my readers, prepare to relate, be amazed or even gawk at the rest of my weeks worth of happenings.
Before I begin, level with me. If you were a mid-semester university student, that hadn't had a break in what feels like months what would you do? If you answered drink and chill-out with some friends. Well I'll be damned, you've just thought like almost every university student around. Because that is exactly, what. I. Did.
From what can be remembered, Thursday through Friday afternoon, was spent with some sort of can or bottle in my hand without fail. The late night of Thursday, and early morning of Friday being spent in the local clubbing district. Obviously the trio that was myself, Mitchell and Lochlain had no means of safely driving, but thanks be to uber for being at our beckoned call. These late-night drivers are a different breed, nocturnal and ceaseless speaking machines that seem to run off of idle conversation. The conversations one can have with these drivers can be a life-teaching lesson or completely absurd to say the least. Our first driver in particular, was on the latter end of that scale. He spoke about conspiracies, from airborne mind-control to recycling being a government money strategy aimed at tax-payers. Overall the drive went smoothly as we simply nodded our heads, with the occasional "yeah definitely" or my favourite "of course." With that we arrived at our destination and stumbled our way through a myriad of bars and clubs. The things you see on a city street in the early hours of the morning would make you impressed and equally confused, but at that stage, we were simply too glazed-over to care. Friday morning I awoke safely in Mitchell's house surprisingly clean and in my pyjamas, I was rather impressed I might add.
With that, the chilling-out was temporarily put on hold. As Friday afternoon held a game for the Water polo team I co-train. It was a gruelling afternoon, ending on a not so favourable note. But it only helped me to realise what we need to train, and for that, I couldn't be happier.
Friday night was spent at my house, once again chilling out. Us Water polo coaches know how to have a good time, thats all I need to say. Trust me.
Saturday brought with it happiness and adoration, as I spent the final days of the week with my beautiful girlfriend, watching movies and sleeping-in. I couldn't have it any other way.
A word from the writer.
