Effluvium: An extremely unpleasant odour.

Life is a chain of events and experiences that one must face until there time is no more. Today I reflect on the experiences that have stood out in my mind, be them past or present. Noticing the little things in life, like the wind on your face or the rain on your skin, can lead to a heightened sense of self, one that nothing else can induce. Recently I've realised that a lot of us, you, me, the people you see everyday, are living passively. We go through our set-out routines without much thought as to how we have come to do them, or how we reached this specific point in our lives. With the rush of our daily lives nipping at our heels wherever we go, there is no time to reflect on oneself, no time to feel each passing moment leave you to embrace the next. Sometimes time is needed to be able to live in each moment and really experience yourself and how you react to each defining factor of whatever situation you find yourself in. Life is too short to let it rush relentlessly into the wall that is the end. I find that for the betterment of our well-being time is needed to let us experience each moment wholly without the passive automation that is our habits.

While I write this, instead of letting my brain take its hold and usher me to the end of this post without real thought, I am writing with all of my senses; Hearing the clink of each key; seeing the dim aura created by my glowing computer screen, whilst feeling the smoothness of each key on the tips of my fingers.

This usually uneventful hobby of mine is so much more than mere writing on the computer, actively making myself apart of the moment opens up a whole new spectrum of senses from feeling each key I type with through an array of senses, to thinking about how each moment has melded my next. I feel as though being apart of these snippets in time, and actively attempting to enhance your feeling of them can lead to an almost improved personal reality. That may just be me... But I urge you to try and focus on the little things, you may be open to more experiences than you think.

With all that out of the way, each moment leading to an enlightened mind, today I learnt a new word. Smite me if I'm wrong, but I do recall writing that I would reflect on a moment that stood out in my mind. And for myself learning something new is always an outstanding moment. Today I learnt a new word. Effluvium. Of course this isn't a life changing discovery, but an interesting experience that has been on my mind.

A word from the rambler.

Josh.
