Lost in the thick of it all.

As Frank Ocean would say, we're "lost in the thick of it all."

Now how did I go from safe at home, to so lost that the campsite I was trying to get to is across this river... Well it all began this morning when I had the bright idea to go camping. Trust me, even I couldn't have prepared to go this off route, but with day-light disappearing over the horizon faster than I can say 'save our souls', our only option is to camp here for the night. With night quickly coming over us, we've all decided that despite being on the land of who knows, we are going to have to set up camp.
The photo above doesn't do our situation any justice. I can tell that you're probably sitting in your comfy chair reading this thinking "What a nice place to get lost," who would blame you, the wildlife and area are serene and I honestly can't fault the beautiful starry sky above. But with the light of campfires slowly dancing across the river I feel like our goal is tantalisingly close and just in reach... If we had a boat.
The thing that gets me about this situation is that we didn't turn around when the supposed 36 Kilometer, 20 minuter drive that we were promised, began extending to a 50 kilometer drive that's gone for more than 2 hours on an off-road track. I really should have seen the signs, but alas we were too reliant on our little friend Google maps to realise that we were obviously, dare I write, lost.
Oh well, despite never reaching the actual campsite, here we are setting up our swags and tents around a small but adequate campfire, steaks are for dinner, so I guess thats something to look forward to; although the cows just up the hill don't look so amused.
A word from a very lost writer.
Josh.
