The Search.

As you've all read, recently (recent being a few months ago now) I had finally achieved the monumental task of being able to legally drive on the road, without anyone in the car with me. Go me! But little did I realise that with the eve of my realised driving potential, I had not even scratched the actual surface of being able to drive on the road. Now Mainly being due to the fact that I need an actual vehicle in which I can drive with. Although I'm sure I could attempt to sprint in the traffic, but sadly that's not very... How can I put it. Legal.

As you are more than likely aware, my dear reader, as the title says I've been avidly in search of a set of wheels to get myself on the road. With that being written, I've spent the last week searching high and low to find myself a car within a reasonable price range. With my search parameters set and my right-clicking finger well-exercised I've spent days of this week trying to find 'the one'. That one as of today being a modestly aged and cared for 2007 Holden Captiva. Yes, I have done research into this particular model and the only faults I could really put on it were that the boot of the car was well-used... or so I thought. As any young person looking for their first car, I had done all the preliminary checks of, who was selling it, were their any obvious faults and if the car ran. Needless to say despite checking for 'obvious' faults online, once I had gone and checked the car in person their were a few not-so-obvious surprises that caught me off-guard. Without my grandpa there I sure as heck wouldn't have spotted these abnormalities...

Having my grandpa's keen eye's were a blessing in disguise when I had checked the car today. As luck would have it, this 2007 Holden Captiva had a towing capacity of 1.8 tonnes, yet completely lacked the appropriate plug fitting that makes towing something legal. What this mean's is that, if I were to tow something as it is, I wouldn't be able to indicate left or right with the trailer I'd be towing, turning my car into a portable road hazard... Well lucky for me, the establishment I've excepted the car from has assured me that they will fix this quite odd problem without any damage to my back-pocket.

Wish me luck my humble readers, as I think I'll be hitting the road in the near future.

A word from the slightly wary writer.

Josh.
